SKANDAGIRI

Skandagiri, also known as Kalavara Durga, is a moderately challenging trek located approximately 70 km from Bangalore, reaching an elevation of about 1,350 meters. The trail begins at Papagni Mutt in Kalavara village, leading trekkers through rocky terrains and dense forests. Along the ascent, you'll encounter the ruins of an 18th-century fort built by Tipu Sultan, offering historical insights. At the summit, a Shiva temple provides a serene spot to rest and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding hills and valleys. The trek is renowned for its mesmerizing sunrise vistas, often above a sea of clouds, making it a favorite among photography enthusiasts.
